It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sharon Kay Coons of Coffeyville, Kansas, who passed away on January 11, 2022, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Hank LaForte and Mary Elizabeth LaForte (Roberts); her children, Eric Pitts and Mary Thornbrough (Pitts); and her brother Gordon LaForte.
She is survived by: her husband Harold Coons; her sons, Tim Pitts of Tyro, Dan Pitts of Coffeyville, Michael Coons of Charlotte Michigan and Mark Coons of Coffeyville; and her siblings, Wilfred "Red" LaForte and Beatrice Cox. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends.
The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the local V.F.W. Auxiliary and may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
