He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Potter and Carrie Marie Potter (Darnall); and his siblings, Jack Potter and Ethel McGill. He is survived by: his wife Thelma Potter; his sons, Steve Dobney (Melanie) of Cypress and Jim Potter Jr. (Nancy) of Coffeyville; and his brother Fred Potter of Princeton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home (306 N Cline Rd, Coffeyville, KS 67337). A graveside service was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Moore Prairie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
