He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Bert Chaney and Eva Chaney; his wife Dorothy Chaney (Bruce); his children, Chris, Curtis, Craig and Brenda; and his children-in-law, Kala (Chris), Lisa (Curt), Krista (Craig) and Rex Cummings.

“Dorothy, I am so sorry to hear of George's passing -- even more so that I ran across this announcement this afternoon. Had I seen it yesterday, I would have been at the memorial service this morning. You know that he has had a profound influence on my life and on my teaching career. There are times, even 30+ years into my college math teaching career, when I wonder what he would do in a certain situation. I often think fondly of him and will continue to do so. Jeff Poet”
