He was predeceased by: his parents, Harlan C. Altman and Katherine E. Altman (Barbour); his wife Nella M. Altman; and his brothers, Harlan C. Altman, Jr. and Richard B. Altman.

He is survived by: his children, Bill Altman (Debby Kay) and Kathy Konen (Steve); his grandchildren, Whitney Marcellino (Tom), Wendy Becker (Brett), Will Altman, Jennifer Garcia (Mario) and Sarah Macke (Eric); and his great grandchildren, Kaylee, Larson Bailey, Ace, Thomas, Baron, Addy, Benedict, Cate, Madelyn, Izzy, Laney and Evie.

“Wally was a kind and understanding man, even when his wife's nephew was so much trouble. He had his home open to me when I visited Nella and him whether in Denver, Missouri or Clearwater. He helped whether I had to leave my car or arrived late in a snowstorm with my luggage missing. He was understanding when Mom's things were brought over to his house after she was placed in the Clearwater nursing home and he helped sort out financial problems. He worked on helping others. God bless him.”
