He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Henry Benson and Myrtle Mae Benson (Henderson); his former wife Geraldine Terrill; his wife Geraldine "Gerry" Benson (Terrill); and his brothers, Derrell, Dean, Charles, Roger and Donald Benson.
He is survived by: his children, Murielyn Sangals (Ron) of Viola, Veldon Benson (Robin) of Clearwater and Gary Benson (Leanne) of Goddard; his siblings, Delbert Benson of Jenks, OK, Gayle Farnsworth (Geoff) and Mary Lou Glasco (Duane) of Amarillo, TX; his grandchildren, Kristin Muir (Rob), Kelli Goforth (Scott), Ryan Sangals (Mandi), Jacob Benson, Dustin Benson, Zach Benson (Ashton) and Shelby Moore (Evan); and his great grandchildren, Hailey, Paige, Zeb Goforth, Jackson, Annie Sangals, Georgia, Frankie Muir, Rachel, Jeb, Elwood, Ryatt, Lexi and Jaylie Benson.
