She was predeceased by: her parents, Arnold Thornton and Opal Thornton (Cassity); her husband Don Affolter; her son Dennis Affolter; and her brother Richard Thornton.

She is survived by: her children, Jerry Affolter (Marsha) of Overland Park, David Affolter (Cindy) of Morganville and Jackie Chestnut (Bill) of Salina; her daughter-in-law Michelle Affolter of Topeka; her sister Mary Strom of Seattle, WA; her grandchildren, Jeremy Affolter (Ann), Michelle Rotert (Jeff), Matt Affolter, Kajsa Affolter O'Toole (Mike O'Toole), Brennan Affolter, Nathan Affolter (Laurel), Kyle Affolter (Amy) and Ryan; and her great grandchildren, Alex, Kamdyn, Khloey, Maris, Donovan, Waverly, Rose, Lydia, Farrah, Annika and Maddox.

Memorials may be made to the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor, the Clay Center First Presbyterian Church, or Meadowlark Hospice.
