He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Arthur Laverne of Lebanon and Mollie Shelby; his parents, Jess (Sonny) and Florence Mae Shelby Phipps; his brother Jackie Shelby; and his son Bobby Gene Shelby.
He is survived by: his close friend Carol McLaughlin; his daughter Cheryl Carter-Ridpath Nixa (Matthew) of Missouri; his great grandchildren, Gavin, Isaac, Bennett, Claire, Carson, Brantley, Zayden, Emmitt, Quade, Ayla and Atlas; his daughters, Mindy Dawn Villone (Daniel) and Reece of Austin Texas; his siblings, Don Shelby, Larry Shelby, Prior Ok, Carolyn Moss Bluejacket Ok (Floyd) and Ricky Shelby Adair Ok (Dana); and also Colleen Waldner Independence (Benjamin) of Kansas. He is also survived by Stepparents, several Stepbrothers and Sisters, and numerous Nieces and Nephews as well as other extended family.
