He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank "Buck" Mooney and Edith Nelson; his son Mike Nelson; and his siblings, Cathy Peugh and Sam Mooney.
He is survived by: his wife Velma Jeanne Green; his children, Aaron Nelson and Valarie Nelson of Cherryvale; his grandchildren, Jessica, Levi, Tyler, Nic and Mariah; and his great grandchildren, Zane and Scarlett.
