He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Mabel "Sam" Bestvater; his parents, Walter Gish and Doris Gish; his sisters, Mary Lawson and Wanda Meyer; his sons, Jason (Kim) and Jared (Amanda); his stepchildren, Tammy Hopper (Martin), Connie Horsch (Mark), Nancy Ehlert (Todd) and Jerry Lampe; and his brother Donald Lorenz. He was also cherished by 5 granddaughters, 10 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren.
