He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Smith and Flora "Murrison" Smith; his wife Lois Schultz; his siblings, Jerry Smith and Terry Lynn Upham; and his grandson Jordan Wisendanger.

He is survived by: his daughters, Vicki Hoelscher (Chuck) of Yukon and Lori Wiesendanger (Jay) of Wichita, Kansas..
