It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter Wayne Akkerman of Chanute, Kansas, born in Seattle, Washington, who passed away on February 29, 2024, at the age of 65, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Akkerman and Sylvia JoEllen Akkerman (Cole); his wife Kay Akkerman; and his brother Blaine Akkerman. He is survived by: his daughter Tonya Wren (Marvin) of Independence, MO; and his siblings, Rhonda Keheun of Erie, KS, Dawn Shy of Lenapah, OK and Keith Akkerman of Parsons, KS. He is also survived by three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
