He was predeceased by: his parents, Leona Brooks (Schul) and Lester Brooks; and his brothers, Doug Brooks and Leonard Brooks. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Brooks; his children, Chris Brooks (Karen Meyer) of Sioux Falls, SD and Tracy McDonald (Jeff Stout) of Chanute; and his grandchildren, Breianna, Piper, Abagail, Adrienne, Caleb and Jacob. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
