He was predeceased by: his parents, George Holmes of Washington and Flora Alice Holmes (Reedy); and his brothers, Charles and Gene. He is survived by: his wife Louise Frame; his children, Dee Holmes (Cindy) of Fredonia, Dr. Darin Holmes (Liz) of Fredericksburg and Mendy Mitchell (Randy) of Grand Prairie; and his grandchildren, Randy Tindle (Ashley), Jennifer DePriest, Tresslie McGraw, Cody Holmes (Andrea), Scott Mitchell, Sarah Mitchell, Sam Mitchell and Homer. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the "Homer Holmes Hero Scholarship Fund", a scholarship awarded to a Fredonia student attending Kansas State University created in his honor by the Eplee family.
