He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Beatrice Hill Thomas; his brother Billy Thomas; and his grandson Robert Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Mary Catherine Holgerson; and his children, Ron Thomas, Bryan Thomas, Constance Johnson, Patricia Fluke and Pamela Bohm.
