He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Pelzel and Sophia Pelzel (Staab); his wife Albertine Windholz; his son Billy Pelzel; his granddaughter Angela Ewing; and his siblings, Leo, Alphonse Pelzel, Beatrice Haas, Alice Brungardt, Clara Hetzel, Irene Bollig, Edna Goetz, Marie Mermis and Frances Koester.
He is survived by: his daughters, Clarita Dinkel (Melvin) of Hays, Elsie Ewing (L. D.) of Hays and Karen Pelzel (Ray Irvin) of Ellis; his brother Jim Pelzel (Valeria) of Wichita; his grandchildren, Bill Dinkel of Hays, Chris Dinkel (Kim) of Hays, Dane Ewing of Kansas City, KS, Cory Ewing of Hays, Holliann Stramel (Trevor Calvin) of Hays, Chase Stramel of Hays and Clint Irvin of Hays; and his great grandchildren, Katie Dinkel, Joslyn Dinkel, Lincoln Calvin and Briar Calvin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
