He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Schmeidler and Anna Schmeidler (Sander); his siblings, Edwin Schmeidler (Alfreda), Ralph Schmeidler, Anton Schmeidler Jr. and Irene Dreiling (Fred); and his brothers-in-law, Ralph Walter and Virgil Hertel.

He is survived by: his friend Award; his wife Dolores Schmeidler (Romme); his children, Jonathan Schmeidler (Kim), Diane Schmeidler of Hays, KS and Joyce Schumacher (Jerry); his grandchildren, Maggie Carey (Chris), Sarah Anglemyer (Corey), Jacob Schmeidler, Grace Schmeidler and Faith Schmeidler; his great grandchildren, Natalia Carey, Madeleine Carey and Levi Anglemyer; his sisters, Sophia Walter of Victoria, KS, Lillian Fisher (Victor), Ann Marie Lessor (Laverne) and Gloria VonLintel (Robert); and his siblings-in-law, Elsie Schmeidler of Hays, KS, Vera Schmidtberger and Leon Romme (Jolene).

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions a public mass will be held at a later date.
