He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarance "Bud" Vawter and Betty Vawter (Bodine); his children, Chris Vawter and Amy Vawter; and his brother John Vawter.
He is survived by: his former wife Jeanette Steuernagel; his son Terry Vawter (Joann) of Topeka, KS; his stepson Joe Howard; his siblings, Jim Vawter (Sharon) of Scranton, KS, Lois Shuck (Duane) of Overbrook, KS, Nancy Southard (Bill) of Topeka, KS and Mary Burgett (Greg) of Carbondale, KS; and his grandchildren, Kimberly, Kelsie and Clinton. He is also survived by five great grandchildren; and many nieces; nephews and cousins.
