He was predeceased by: his parent Otis D. Essex Sr; and his brother George Essex. He is survived by: his parent Nettie F. Essex (Lee); and his daughters, Cherie Draa (Rick) of North Canton, Debbie Essex of North Canton and Deana Carter (Bill) of North Canton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
