He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Riley Hicks and Ruby Mae Hicks (Elliot); his siblings, Henry Hicks, Bobby Hicks, Roger Hicks and Joyce Barrett; his father-in-law James Billbe; and his daughter-in-law Angela Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Marie Hicks; his children, Ruby Bingham (Brandon), Joshua Brown, Scott Brown (Brittnie) and Angie Bertty (Dennis); his grandchildren, Mia, Kaci, Adalynn, Chloë, Zach, Matthew, Micha, Kaela, Korbin and Nalani; his mother-in-law Vivian Billbe; his siblings-in-law, Jim Billbe (Toni), Sherry Scholl (Ron) and Carol Stephens (Steve); and also Cracker. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
