He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer F. Murray and Lydia Murray (Hooley); his brother Gerald; his daughter Kathleen Foster Friesen; and his son-in-law John Foster.
He is survived by: his son John Charles (Krista) of Hesston, Kansas; his wife Marilyn Stauffer; his grandchildren, John Murray (Denay), Joel Murray (Katie Miller) of Harrisonburg, VA and Meghana Murray; his great grandchildren, JD and Theodore Murray; his sisters, Shirley Miller of Harrisonburg, VA and Doris Klingelsmith of Sarasota, FL; his son-in-law Jon Friesen (Kris) of North Newton, Kansas; and his stepgrandchildren, Blake Friesen and Jaecy Friesen (Lexi).
