He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ralph William and Dorothy Grace Dewell (Shelhammer) of Bucklin, KS; his children, Scott Carey and Krista Ann Dewell; his brothers, Bill Dewell of Fowler, KS, Lyman Dewell of Colorado Springs, CO and Duke Dewell of Fowler, KS; his siblings-in-law, Jim Eaton of Lenexa, KS, Jake Hoffman of Dodge City, KS, Ray Fisher of Bucklin, KS, Harold McCarty of Napa, CA, Kenneth Birney of Phonix, AZ, Wynona McCarty of Napa, CA, Lorane Birney of Phoenix, AZ, Sharon Dewell (CO) and Melv Dewell of Fowler, KS; his parents-in-law, James E. (Earnie) and Mayme Birney of Bucklin, KS; his sister Mary; his daughters, Jana Parkes of Ark City, KS and Susan Dewell Crassaerts (Luxembourg); his son-in-law Randy Parkes; his grandchildren, Haley Shogren of Winfield, KS, Zachary Shogren of Houston, TX, Theo and Sophia Crassaerts (Luxembourg); his great grandchild Taegan Shogren of Winfield, KS; his siblings, Ray Dewell of Winfield, KS, Jim Dewell, Margaret (Eaton), Marce Hoffman of Oklahoma City, OK and Pat Fisher of Bucklin, KS; and his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Dewell of Fowler, KS, Jean Dewell of Winfield, KS and Vicky Dewell of Ponder, TX. He was also cherished by 40 nieces and nephews.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in memory of Hal to Branson Christian Church Disciples of Christ (Branson, MO) or the Hilltop House Senior Center (Bucklin, KS).
