He was predeceased by: his parents, William Mayer and Martha Emma Lucille Mayer (Erwin). He is survived by: his wife Doris Reynolds Harris; and his children, Bob Mayer (Dawn), Sherri Armstrong (Fred), Shelli Carpenter (Lowell), Shane Benham (Harvey) and Chris Mayer. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, October 31st 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Brewster Methodist Church (202 Nebraska Ave, Brewster, KS 67732). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 31st 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, October 31st 2024 at the Beulah Cemetery (740 S Country Club Dr, Colby, KS 67701).
