He was predeceased by: his parents, John Shepard Haynes and Catherine Mae Haynes (Davis); and his stepdaughter Tammy Vardys (Tony Vardys). He is survived by: his wife Carole D. Shell; his stepgrandson Dillion Vardys (Courtney); his children, Cambree and Austin James; his stepgranddaughter Hallie Vardys; his close friend Mark Evanhoe (Lisa); and also, Bentley, Anthony and Wyatt.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Town and Country Christian Church, 4925 SW 29th Street, Topeka, Kansas 66614.
