He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter "Pete" and Louise Esslinger (Leuthold); his wife Pauline Specht; his granddaughter Ariel Esslinger; his daughter-in-law Karen Esslinger; and his siblings, Adele Bruellman, Vernon Esslinger and Martin Esslinger.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Esslinger (Melinda) of McLouth, Mike Esslinger of St. Benedict and Dawn Feldkamp (Stan) of Seneca, Kansas; and his sisters, Irma Gerber of Lester and Esther Scott of Scottsdale, Arizona.. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Apostolic Christian Church of Bern, Kansas and the Kidney Foundation sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
