As we bid Louis Jay farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Louis Jay is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Fankhauser and Loretta Fankhauser (Nellie); and his sister Luella Mae Wittwer (Dolly). He is survived by: his wife Jan; his children, Greg Fankhauser (Amy) of Topeka, Jamie Fankhauser (Sharon) of Spring, Texas and Lisa Aul (Ron) of Lawrence, Kansas; and his brother Steve Fankhauser (Melva) of Richland, Washington. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Popkess Mortuary (823 Virginia St, Sabetha, KS 66534). A celebration of life was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Bern United Methodist Church (527 Main St, Bern, KS 66408). The military honors was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at the Military Honors Bern Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Bern United Methodist Church, the Bern Community Center, or the Apostolic Christian Home sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
