He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Elmer and Lucille Thompson (Ray); and his brother Glenn Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Theresa of Beloit, KS; his children, Aaron (Sara), Lori (Curt) and Ryan (Laura); his brother Donald (Christina); his sister-in-law Emily of Kansas City, MO; and his brothers, Richard Morrison "Flappy" and Bob Elliott "Ed". He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made out to Wounded Warrior Project or the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Mankato in care of the funeral home.
