He then married Sue Holt and through that union her three children Jay, Brandi, and Bryan were united with his son Chris as they eventually settled their family in Clay Center, Kansas where lasting memories were made. As their children grew and started their families, Les and Sue moved to Beloit where they spent the rest of their lives together.
Les's passion for wrenching was fostered by his uncles who taught him to take that passion and build a successful career as an "ASC Certified Master Technician". He worked at Beloit Auto & Truck Plaza until health issues forced him to quit. He enjoyed fixing cars and trucks but however racing was his true passion. He loved going to races, and always looked forward to the next one.
Besides his work, Les loved people. He was always friendly and would eagerly help anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his father and the love of his life, his wife. Left to mourn his death and celebrate his life are his mother Zue Milam of Macon, Georgia; his children Christopher Milam and wife Brandis of Washington, KS, Jay Youngblood and wife Becky of Cawker City, Bryan Shoemaker and companion Ashley Knitter of Cawker City, Brandi Kiewel and husband Josh of Medina, Ohio; two sisters Lorie Edwards and husband John of Forsyth, Georgia, Laura Collins and husband Nick of Stockbridge, Georgia; his brother-in-law Danny Holt and companion Tanya of Hebron, NE; 11 grandchildren and many friends who were considered family.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 4, 2014 at the McDonald Funeral Home. Private family burial will be at 3:00 P.M. in the Steele City, Nebraska Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Funeral Expense Fund. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
