He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis McDowell and Iona McDowell (Nichols); his siblings, Barbara Gaston and Carl Lee McDowell; and his sons, Carl Robert McDowell and Earl Lewis McDowell, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife June Moore; his former wife June McDowell of Belle Plaine; his children, Kathy Ice of Belle Plaine and Kelly McDowell of Kansas City; his granddaughter April Cantu (Ernie) of Belle Plaine; his great grandchildren, Amber Ice (Leroy) of Wichita and Jordan Cantu of Belle Plaine; and his sisters, Alice Johnston of Topeka and Joan Staley of Mississippi. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
