He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Ree and Alene Cates (Archer). He is survived by: his children, Darrin D Cates, Drew Emerson Cates of Carl Junction, MO, Shelly Jean Dunn (J. D.) of Webb City, MO and Dawn Ellen Bright (Jason) of Joplin, MO; his siblings, Dennis Cates of Olathe, KS, Bill Cates of Galena, KS and Sue Ketchum (Marty) of Broken Arrow, OK; and his grandchildren, Keyvin Dunn, Kelsey Dunn, Helen Bright and Trajan Bright.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lowell Friends Church (8829 SE 72nd St, Baxter Springs, KS 66713). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
