He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Serrano and Josephine Serrano (Lopez); his siblings, Ramona Lou, Anthony and James; his daughter-in-law Jennifer Serrano; and his siblings-in-law, Jim Young, James Lowrey and Becky Serrano.

He is survived by: his family Tom; his wife Kathryn; his children, Teresa Porterfield (John), Thomas Jr. and Joseph; his grandchildren, Elizabeth "Liddy" Porterfield, Maria "Mia" Serrano, John "Jack" Porterfield, Thomas Serrano, III, Nicholas Serrano, Samuel Porterfield and Paul Serrano, III; his sisters, Joella Young, Pauline Carpio (Ken) and Mary Serrano (Mary Riddell); his sister-in-law Lynne Serrano; his brother Raymond Serrano; and his siblings-in-law, Judy Hill (Lance), Mary Ann Heaney (Chris), Mark (Margie), Mike (Elaine), Roy (Bev), Eddie (Deanna), John, Paul and Patrick. He is also survived by 27 nieces & nephews, 48 great nieces & nephews and 3 great nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Butler Funeral Home (701 N 94th St, Kansas City, KS 66112). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle (416 N 14th St, Kansas City, KS 66102).
