In loving memory of Laurene Marie Young of Baldwin City, Kansas, who departed this world on January 24, 2025 at the age of 86. Laurene leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Helen Smith (Brecheisen) and Ross Oliver Smith; and her sisters, Shirley Broahard and Laurece Thompson. She is survived by: her husband Darrel Young; her children, Jeremiah Young of Baldwin City, KS and Deborah Smethers of Garnett, KS; her stepchildren, Carrie Hill of Lawrence, KS, Candice Stevens of Anchorage, AK, Chris Young of Baldwin City, KS and Kevin Young of Elko, NV; and her sisters, Dorothy Grant of Eudora, KS and Carol Roper of Eudora, KS. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Worden Cornerstone Church (294 E 900 Rd, Baldwin City, KS 66006).
