It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Merle Leann Bernasek of Axtell, Kansas, born in Sabetha, Kansas, who passed away on August 11, 2021, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest H. Lackey and Anna M. Lackey (Huls); her husband Donald E. Bernasek; her daughter-in-law Grace Bernasek; her sister Norma Jean Bernasek; and her grandsons, Jeremy Bernasek and Jeff Brooks.
She is survived by: her children, George Bernasek (Susan), Leann DeKoning of Beatrice, NE, Rose Mary Duryea (Merle), Marvin Bernasek (Rose), Carol Holthaus (Richard) and Arlene Henry (Allen); and her brothers, John Lackey and Gary Lackey. She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren.
