She was predeceased by: her parents, Ada Bookout (Moore) and Burl Bookout; her son Mark Hughes (Angela); her children-in-law, Dawn Mays and Mike Gonzales; her siblings, Glen Mabry (Barbara), Alan Watkins and Jeretta Harry (Bob); her stepbrothers, Robert, James and Mike Moore; her brother-in-law Roger Batts; her grandson Cayton Russell Lakin; and her nephew Rod Batts.
She is survived by: her children, David Newton (Lei), Timothy Mays, Jenetta "Gayle" Keel and Stacey Stevens (Rick); her sisters, Sharon Harris (Floyd) and Judy Batts; her stepsiblings, Rita Higdon and Jeff Moore; and her grandchildren, Sheree Sandoval, Clarissa Hughes, Timothy Hughes, Michael Hughes, David Hughes, Ricky Bates, Liberty Avery, Briana Newton, Zack Newton, Lonny Keel, Jessica Keel, Christina Gonzales, Joe Henley, Clint Henley, Chrissy Dorsey, Ashley Roderick, Tommy Roderick, Danielle Stevens, Meghan Stevens, Richard Stevens, Jr., Rebecca Stevens, Justin Stevens, Andrew Stevens, Amanda Alonso Stevens, Carly Coyle, Tyler Varnum, Ronnie Smith, Donnie Smith, Bobby Smith and Amy Wynhoff. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Headley Funeral Chapel (813 State St, Augusta, KS 67010). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
