She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph Sphar and Mattie Sphar (Bonnel); her husband James "Russell" Whiteman; her son Ronnie Whiteman; her grandchildren, James Richard Whiteman and Amy Whiteman; her great grandchild Kayla McMichael; her great great grandchild Grayce McMichael; and her nephew Chet Hendrickson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Linda Bartel (Roger) of Cambridge and Darlene Flegler (Bill) of Ponca City, OK; her daughter-in-law Dorothy Whiteman of Cambridge; her grandchildren, Karen Bannister (Les), Shawn Bartel, Marty Whiteman, Brady Bartel (Missy) and Halli Paslay (Preston); her sister Jewell Hendrickson (Wayne) of Garden City, MO; her siblings-in-law, Earl Whiteman of Sun Lakes, AZ, Eunice Mullen of Oklahoma and Arlene Otto of Burden; her great grandchildren, Melissa McMichael (Jesse Bloomdahl), Tyler McMichael (Maranda), Lucas McMichael, Jeremy Whiteman (Amanda Coon), Jasiah Johnson, Morgan Whiteman, Harper Bartel, Dalin Bartel, Scarlett Bartel, Kaylie Murry, Austin Paslay, Hayden Wolfe, Shelby, Kylie, Lane Bannister, Kaden, Cash and Kyall Paslay; and her great great grandchildren, Kennedy, Fallon Bloomdahl, Chance, James, Flint, Emmalynn Whiteman, Beckett McMichael, Keagan Whiteman, Blakely and Stella Bannister.
A memorial has been established in Verla's name for Cambridge Presbyterian Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
