He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan Benton, Sr. and Alice; and his siblings, Norma Ruth Price, Benjamin Bohanan, Edmond Howard Bohanan, Emma Sue Bohanan, Betty Jo Carnes and Maxine "Shukie" Carnes.
He is survived by: his wife Vernis Aline Scuggins; his children, Nathan Benton, III (Teresa) of Combine, Marilyn Walking Sky (Woolsey) of Royse City, Phillip Benton (Gwen) of Arkansas City, John Benton (Margaret) of Greenville, Texas and Nancy Smith (John) of Mesquite, Texas; and his sister Nancy Ann Carnes. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and other family members and many, many friends.
Those attending the visitation or the service are requested to follow COVID-19 mandates including social distancing and the wearing of a mask.
