He was predeceased by: his parent Ernestine Ferris (Simpson); his wife Ethel Hey; his stepfathers, Author Allen and Loren Ferris; and his grandson Robbie Cheever.
He is survived by: his children, Cathy Simmons of Morganton, NC, Becky Simpson of Arkansas City, Marvena Cheever of Pittsburg, KS and Greg Simpson of Arkansas City. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to assist with funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
