He was predeceased by: his parents, Najeeb Assaf and Bahia Assaf (Richa); and his brother Hameed. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Assaf; his children, Andrew Assaf, Amanda Assaf-Plotek (Ariel) and Alyson Assaf (Leslie); his sisters, Amal Aouad (Tanos) and Mimi Kurban (Fuad); his grandsons, Lincoln Easterby and Leo Easterby; and his nieces and nephews, Johnny Awwad, Arlette Aouad, Norma Assaf, Shady Awwad, Lena Rouhana, Marianne Kurban Sayah, Katie Harpstrite and Becky Harpstrite.
