He was predeceased by: his parents, Carolyn Theas (Mallon) and Earl Theas. He is survived by: his children, Jeremy Theas (Evelyn) of Jacksonville, Shane Theas (Allie) of Belle Plaine, Minnesota and Lauren Ayers (Walker) of Emporia, Kansas.; his sisters, Linda Soetebier (Todd) of Americus, Kansas, Sherlyn Theas of Maryville, Missouri, Betty Brass of Albany, Missouri and Reba Theas (Adam Hurt) of Lincoln, Nebraska.; his grandchildren, Isabel, Gabriella, Anthony, Brooklyn, Graham, Mack, Emerson, Holly and Dean; and his great grandchild Marianna.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Messiah Lutheran Church (1101 Neosho St, Emporia, KS 66801). A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
