He was predeceased by: his parents, Ferry White and Mary Bell Hammer (Ross); his sons, Rex Hammer, Jr. and Kenneth "Sam" Hammer; and his siblings, Reggie Hammer, Royce Hammer, Kathleen Hedrick and Modelle Cloyd.
He is survived by: his wife Beatrice; his daughter Terri Greaves of Topeka; and his sisters, Helen Payne of Kentucky and Elizabeth Smith of Kentucky.
