She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Smith and Lena Smith (Gronewoller); her husband Frank I. Garten; her son Mark; her grandson Jarett Kelley; and her siblings, Donald, Doris, Cecelia and Carol.
She is survived by: her children, Ellen Haslouer (Chuck) of Hope, Mary Koster of Wichita, Ann McConkey (Richard) of Topeka, Karen Orr (Troy) of Assaria, Carl Garten (Christine) of Salina, Casey Garten (Cindy) and Bruce Garten (Jessica) of Belgrade, Maine.; and her daughter-in-law Marilyn Garten of Manhattan. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St, Andrews School or to the 4-H Scholarship Fund and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd Street, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
