She was predeceased by: her parents, Oren Stanbrough and Opal Stanbrough (Byers); her husband William Ernest Essex Jr.; her former husband James Steep; her son Richard L. Essex; and her siblings, Donald Stanbrough, Keith Stanbrough and LaDonna Benefiel.
She is survived by: her daughters, Susan Heath (Duane), Nancy Tuders and Judith Essex; her sister Adilou Haynes; and her grandchildren, Richard L. Essex II (Connie), Heather Gallagher (Joe), Ann Catherine Cox Rodney (Tommy), Carrie Thomas (Charles), Michael Heath, Daleri Brown (Jake), Aubrey Tuders, Dane Tuders and Megan Wilson. She is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren.
