He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Thompson and Dortha Thompson; his siblings, Howard Thompson, Jr., Paul Thompson, Julia Stevens, Dale Thompson, Keith Thompson and Nancy Harbaugh; and his great grandchild Steven Smith, Jr..

He is survived by: his sister April Quinones (José); his children, Troy (Marla), Tricia, Denise Smith (Steven) and Travis (Carrie); his grandchildren, JoHannah Denning (Thomas), Zachary Smith, MiKaela Pennington (Jeffrey), MaKenzie Smith, RyLeigh Smith, Josephine Thompson, Walter Thompson, Annalise Thompson, Margaret Thompson and Elijah Smith; his great grandchildren, Isaiah Denning, Carter Pennington, Liam Pennington, Isabella Denning and Adeline Pennington; and his siblings-in-law, Roberta Thompson, Diane Thompson, Nancy Bitner and Larry Quick. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members; and by many, many friends.
