He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Marshal Draper and Janet Adank Draper; his brothers, Jeff Draper and John Draper; his wife Cheri Draper; and his children, Joel Gabriel Draper (Kristen Draper), Ashley Butler (Chris Butler) and Hannah Wittrig (Carl Wittrig). He was also cherished by three children and their spouses they have four grandsons and two granddaughters.

“It's taken me a long time to find the right words and yet I still don't have them. Joel was a good friend and I am so sad he didn't have a lot of time to enjoy his time with all of you after leaving Rolls-Royce. I am honored to have known Joel. He had a GREAT outlook on life and attitude. Everything just rolled off. He will be missed but out of pain and doesn't have to fight anymore. His family was his rock. My condolences.”
