He was predeceased by: his siblings, Noel Dean, Gordon Rickert and Donna Montgomery. He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Maximilian, Jason (Stacey Sweitzer) and Nikki Asbury (John); his grandchildren, Cole Asbury, Hannah Asbury, Faith Dean and Ty Macy; and his siblings, Ruth Slater, Bonnie Smith, Martha Slater Ryan, Berdella Wimer, Keith Rickert, Hoye Rickert and Larry Rickert.
