We bid farewell to Melba D. Smith (Yorktown, Indiana), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on March 17, 2025 at the age of 87. Melba touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Barnett and Pearl Barnett; her husband Norman Smith; her grandsons, Christopher Rankin and Tyler Rankin; and her siblings, Geneva, Pansy, Homer, Clinton, Finley, Marie, Pearly and Denny Barnett.
She is survived by: her children, Jenice Smith of Wabash and Clayton Smith (Amanda) of Muncie; her grandchildren, Ryan Swingley (Tiffany), Joey Rankin (Breanna), Michael Smith (Gracie), Alexander Smith and Gabriel Smith; her siblings, Bill Barnett (Shirley) and Wanda Roysden; and her sister-in-law Bobbi Barnett. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, March 21st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel (2215 S Broadway St, Yorktown, IN 47396). A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel (2215 S Broadway St, Yorktown, IN 47396).
