He was predeceased by: his parents, William J. Thompson and Mary Elizabeth Thompson (Whalen); and his siblings, Jack, Bill, Maury, Don, Al Thompson, Mary Elizabeth Wardle and Margaret "Peg" Saunders.
He is survived by: his wife JoAnn E. Thompson (Howells); and his children, Kathleen Thompson, James Thompson (Deb), William Thompson, Michael Thompson (Tena) and Kelli Thompson. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
