He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney S. Merrifield and Iva E. Merrifield (Choler); his brothers, Duane and Jean L. Merrifield; his son-in-law Gene Julian; and his granddaughter Cindy Barker.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy L. Minnick; and his children, Linda Barker (Jerry) of South Milford, Barbara Julian of Angola, Jacki Pearson (Jack) of Shipshewana, Diane Merrifield of LaGrange, Carldean Jr. Merrifield (Judy) of Wolcottville and David Merrifield (Mary) of LaGrange. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
