He was predeceased by: his spouse Oma Faye Ison; his siblings, Greeley Bates, Norma Jean Pena and Margarine Gibson; and his siblings-in-law, Loretta Bates, Janice Sue Bates, Madge Sergent, Allen Halcomb (Lester) and Komos Ison.
He is survived by: his children, Jerry Bates of Ridgeville and Sharon Keys of Winchester; his grandchildren, Nicholas Keys, Paula Polei (Rick), Jeremy Bates (Sarah), Melissa Wilson (Ryan) and Chalvis Bates; and his great grandchildren, Brayden, Lillian, Madison, Haleigh, Nolan Wilson, Elizabeth Bates, Jeremiah Bates, Dylan Polei and Layne Polei. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces, family and friends.
