He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin H. Thornburg and Irene Thornburg (Robinson); his wife Wilsie (Knapp); his brothers, Edwin, Robert and Ernest; his grandson Andrew Thornburg; his nephew Steve Heltzel; and his niece Susan Deem.
He is survived by: his children, Diane Hartman of Yorktown, Indiana, Dan (Becky) of Columbia City, Indiana and Dennis (Beth) of Sevierville, Tennessee.. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
