He is survived by: his parents, Victoria L. Bates (Ray) and Gerald Bates; his son Lucas William Bates; his brother Gerald Curtis Bates; and his extended family, Britian Weatherholt, Mavryck and Knoxdon VanHentenryck. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
